Social Rx is fully interoperable with EMIS Web
We are pleased to announce that Social Rx now has full, 2-way interoperability with EMIS Web, which is the main GP clinical system used across England.
Social prescribing referrals can now be made directly from the GP clinical system. When a EMIS Web user wishes to refer a patient into social prescribing, they can select a ‘Social Rx’ button from within the patient record that launches an embedded referral form. The referral form is auto-populated with key patient demographic and practice information, saving time and ensuring frictionless referrals into social prescribing.
The interoperability also ensures GPs have greater visibility of the social prescribing programme as key information from Social Rx can feed straight back into EMIS Web, too. Based on customer preferences, this information can include link worker case notes, community service bookings, wellbeing assessment scores, and completed action plans.
Some of our customers who have already started to benefit from Social Rx’s EMIS Web integration include Caritas PCN in South-West Birmingham and Bexley Voluntary Service Council (BVSC). Whilst getting feedback from a group of Bexley GPs, we were told that “the referral process is so easy now that we have the 2-way interoperability with EMIS Web. I wish all my referrals were like this!”. As well as this, Jattinder Rai, who manages the social prescribing team at BVSC, told us that “the interoperability has really reduced our admin and saved us so much time”.
With the interoperability, we are helping the NHS to realise its vision of creating a joined-up care for millions of patients, leading to more effective information sharing and optimising patient outcomes and quality of care.
At Social Rx, we are committed to interoperability, and are working on projects with other software providers. If you’d like to find out more, please contact us on info@socialrx.co.uk.
Users can select a Social Rx button from within EMIS Web to launch an embedded referral form. For patients already referred into social prescribing, clicking this button launches a summary view page of the Social Prescribing information stored about the patient.
The interoperability with EMIS Web enables the referral form to be auto-populated with patient demographic and practice data, ensuring minimal data entry for EMIS Web users.
